The federal government will unveil plans today for new legislation covering ownership of firearms that aims to cut red tape, but also show Canada is taking gun safety seriously, CBC has learned. CBC will carry Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney's announ

    Finally they are starting to treat responsible people like adults. I'm glad too they they have reigned in the RCMP from making random and retroactive decisions.

    Know what would be great? A classification system based off of the characteristics of a firearm rather than whatever passes for the wisdom and insight of the RCMP.

    All rifle sized firearms that are not automatics are non restricted.
    Automatics being defined as firing more than round per barrel per trigger pull.

    All pistol sized firearms that are not automatics are restricted.

    All automatics are still prohibited.

    I will however, take whatever I can get.
