"We are planning, whether they be deemed demonstrations, rallies ... to again get attention," said Grand Chief Michael Delisle of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake.

"But I think (the) Canadian economy, eventually, will be the target. Again, I can't give you specifics today, but we're prepared to take whatever action (is) necessary to ensure the control is not taken away from us."

Looks like they want to screw with the goose that keeps giving them their golden eggs. Right now this is a pissing contest for Nepinak and his cabal. Anything that Atleo supports, he's going to be against. it's not so much the politics as it is political.

    Another gem from Nepinak.

This education plan could be the greatest thing since sliced bread and he still wouldn't back it, because Atleo does. The good 'ol pissing match (whether it's with Atleo, govt of Manitoba, or the feds) is more important to him. Think back to his asinine comments on the Phoenix Sinclair inquiry. He'd rather make hay than anything else.

For some people this bill may be killing the goose that laid the Golden Egg and they'd rather have their kids grow up uneducated and marginalized than stop the flow of extorted Federal Funds they use for themselves. Or, it could be optics. If this bill passes and they become responsible for their own kids education how's it going to look when they demand the Federal Gov't give monies to fix the problem that they're now responsible for.

Try working on or near a rez. Beginning in the earliest primary years you have half the class showing up sporadically, and the parents just don't give a shit. They never show up for parent teacher interviews, meetings with speech therapists or consults with the resource department. There are kids with court orders to attend class, but they never show and it's impossible to locate the parents. We have kids in Grade Six who are shaky when it comes to the alphabet and its associated sounds....numeracy....forget about it.

Those kids who do show promise(about 10%) are often unable to learn because the other little shits are so disruptive that it's impossible at times to conduct a class. They also face taunting for their desire to be better than their 'peers'. Out of 45 kids in Grade 12, only six are going to graduate this year. One is my own, one other is another teacher's daughter and four are adult students of mine.

This is a perfect opportunity for Harper to take it to the wall. He's got the AFN on board, so this isn't just the bad white man dictating to the red man. Harper should tell Atleo that if he backs this bill he has to stand up for it, not weasel away if the blockades start, otherwise no bill, no deals, fuggedaboudit. Then if the blockades do start, do no put Fantino in charge of dealing with them, but somebody who will actually enforce court orders. With, again, Atleo supporting this.

Oh here we go again. Maybe someone will grow a pair this time and crush the blockade. Heck arrest him for advocating terrorism. If a Imam said this he'd be scooped up in the blink of an eye for a secret trial. Natives threaten to terrorize the economy through paramilitary force (as it's been proven they do bring weapons) and its just fine and dandy.

What's going to be hilarious to watch is how many people up here who have been giving shit to Clive Bundy will do a complete 180 and fully support this potential Native blockade.

Except maybe for Mr C, who operates on principles of his own, I confidently predict that absolutely no one else here will support any Native blockade.

If they serve popcorn for the kids, then I'm four-square behind it.
