Tobacco kills millions every year, whereas pot doesn't kill anybody. I think that is a significant distinction. That said, I think they should both be legal. It's not the gummint's job to force everyone to live a clean life.
First of all it wasn't the weed that caused the injury it was an irresponsible driver. By this logic we should be banning booze as a killer because people DUI after drinking all the time. If weed were ever legalized I would certainly hope the government would be smart enough to start advertisements of "Don't smoke and drive".
Secondly I can say with pretty much 100% certainty that if weed were ever legalized it would not be permitted to give kids weed much like how it's not legally permitted to give them booze. They may get a hold of it but companies would get in hot water fast for advertising to kids.
The may get hold of it?? It's illegal now, and it's been easily accessible to teens since the late 60s and early 70s. It's never been difficult to get booze or pot. Legalization and government regulation isn't going to keep it out of the hands of minors.
Kids find it easier to score pot than booze, because pot is not regulated. That is why people argue that regulated pot would actually make it a bit harder for kids to get their hands on pot. The fly in the ointment is that pot is so easy to produce vs booze, but then that's already true, and I would guess most kids don't grow but score.
can't see it that way. Even if pot were regulated, they could just grow their own plants. Decent DIY fermentation is a little more involved and time consuming..... and expensive.
Sanjay Gupta wants to ban tobacco which people eat and smoke but he wants to legalize pot which people eat and smoke.

Once legal large scale commercial operations begin, you'll see an increase in cancer rates due to pesticide and herbicide use.
Not to mention the carcinogens in the smoke itself. It's not healthy. It's not all that bad either.
Most tokers aren't also smoking 25 - 50 joints a day, the way cigarette smokers do. I hate the smell of both when they are burning
Just wait until the cigarette companies start selling weed - then they'll have the kids smoking 4 packs a day in short order.
