He will get at least 2 appeals, by which time the statute of limitations will run out.

No jail for Silvio, no money for Italy either.

    Just more running around
by the judiciary, wasting time and money.

    Welcome to Italy. :)

Berlusconi . . I hate him. He had the finest little plaything I've seen in decades - Ruby "the heartbreaker".

    You go, Silvio !!

At the very least one would hope that the conviction itself will keep him out of politics in the future

Doesn't sound like it in Italy.

When I look at some of the politicians who have been successful in Europe, I don't feel so bad about ours. I think Americans can probably say the same.

Don't bet on it.. the ban would only be 3 years, and if another case looks
like it will bad for him, he can quickly jump back in to get his immunity back.

And the people will support him.

The thing I've always wondered about Italy is what kind of bastards did the other parties run that made Berlusconi' look good?

Communists, Socialists, Facists, Separatists, and unbelievably corrupt governments.

And the best reason for not doing PR elections.
