The news was received with mixed emotions by the men who headed up this year?s poppy campaign. They expressed joy that someone had been caught, but disappointment to learn the accused is only a teen.
    ...
?I think she needs to apologize to the veterans,? he said. ?That would be the appropriate thing for her to do.

"If she could somehow apologize to the people she?s hurt it would be nice. If she wanted to sit down and write a letter to us we could at least give it to the veterans and legion members.?

I think this girl should spend some time with the veterens, so they can teach her about the sacrifices they made. You can't expect a sincere apology until she understands exactly what she should be apologizing for.

Lets face facts here though, everyone is surprised because its a 15 yr old girl. If it were a guy, it would simply read "teen caught in poppy thefts". However a 15 year old girl shocks everyone.

It maybe a small double standard but its a double standard none the less.

The press release issued by city police said a second male has been identified but not yet apprehended in the thefts.

    Both of them.

But I still say they need to learn what the poppy is about.

That isn't even close to what I was saying, I think she should be punished the same way any asshole who tries to rip off Veterans would be. My point is the article seems to act surprised that its a girl that did this. The article itself seems to be to the tune of "Oh a girl did it? :o " where as most crimes publicized involving teenage males aren't branded "Boy, Committed <insert> crime".

I just thought it was interestingly worded, thats all. I think the c**t and her boyrfriend should have to clean the local legion with a toothbrush and a bucket of soapy water to make up for stealing from the Veterans.

That can be administered while they spend some time in this

She should be sentenced to a year in Beny-sur-Mer, taking care of the graves in the area.

If we had a time machine, the best educational act would be to send her in the morning of 6 June 1944 to Omaha beach, if she won't be good, to Stalingrad - being one of the german soldiers.
