B.C. to toughen drunk-driving laws

British Columbia has had a very large group of politicians and police officers charged with drunk driving.....

But for some reason none seem to be convicted ........I guess this get tough attitude is only for the poor common people..............

I would sure like to see, Gordo get on television and announces this policy...90% of British Columbia would be laughing so hard they would fall out of their chairs....................

Zero tolerance is the only way to go. Leaves out ANY ambiguity as to how impaired someone is to drive. THis crap about 'you can drink a little before driving is still acceptable' has GOT to go.

If it�s not working now, changing the impairment threshold is only a cash grab in the fines that are going to be collected.

If they want to make a difference, ramp up the punishment to such a level that it�s not worth the risk any more. Substantial jail time and forfeiture of the vehicles would be part of the punishment.

Well the problem in part stems from the government condoning drinking and driving, albeit in a backhanded way. The simple fact that there is STILL an allowable blood/alcohol level when behind the wheel tells me the gov't isn't really all that serious about a VERY serious problem.

While I applaud the fact that they're gonna attempt to take more impared drivers off the road, I hope people can see this law for what it is.

ANOTHER TAX GRAB

It's very similar in style to the Government of BC taking millions out of ICBC profits claiming the money belongs to the people of BC, so who better to use it than them, raising Hydro rates through the roof when that corporation is making in the hundreds of millions in profits yearly and claiming that it's needed for upgrades and finally the beloved HST, which will be going towards health care.

This Governments taxing to the extreme of the people of BC under the guise of increased costs, has become so blatent that they don't even attempt to quantify it with half truths which are believable.

Unless they're waiting for you at the end of the driveway, that's not going to happen.

Zero means zero.

And that's exactly what would happen in one form or another.

Zero tolerance is a bad idea. Lower the limit if you want, but I'm very much against a zero tolerance law.
