If there were a gold medal for premature Winter Olympic whining, the British would be perennial occupants of the middle podium.

How would you judge if an Olympics is, as they say "the worst ever" anyway?

Other winter olympics have had problems with not enough snow. I think Munich would hold the record for dead athletes. Technical glitches are nothing new.

No judging scandals yet. No athlete boycotts. No barred countries. No bombs in trash cans. Doping scandals haven't actually landed in Vancouver. The TV ratings have been good.

Come to think of it, how would you even judge if an Olympics were a success. Were Hitler's Berlin Olympics considered a success?

The problem with the limeys is that their team is terrible this year and they have no one to root for. Last Olympics they had their woman's curling team to cheer on, so their "journalists" had something to focus on. This time around they have nothing, so they fall back on the only thing they know: negative journalism.

That's what I was thinking too. I mean, for worst Olympics, Munich would be hard to top.

The best thing about the Hitler's Berlin Olympics was Hitler beating Jesse Owens in the 100 m goosestep.

I'm with Fiddledog and QBall on this one. Good points made by both.

Seriously, it's a little premature to judge this as the "worst ever" a mere few days into it. Pass judgement February 28th, except leave the weather out of it, there's bugger all VANOC or anyone can do about that. Hardly the basis on which to judge the overall games experience.

I'm sure in 2012 our journalists won't be so negative and judgemental, unless of course the experience deserves it.
