Three men, including a veteran in his 80s, thwarted a would-be armed robber at an east Toronto Royal Canadian Legion who attempted to take the $10,000 in proceeds from their poppy drive.

    that is great that they took care of this guy. This also says that it may be a great idea to count large amounts of money in a more secure location, or at least have some security around when holding large amounts of cash. It is to bad that it has to come to that but some prevention in the future may be a good idea.

    I know a guy who embodies these old fellas. Someone tried to stick up the bar he was drinking in. He grabbed the guy, gun and all wrestled till the gun was pointing at the robbers head and said "pull the trigger now" *expletive*. He got a letter from the mayor of Halifax for that, and a medal from the Navy.

    He's President of the local Legion now.

    Wow, I never thought I could be disgusted, mad and laugh my ass off at the same time. But, here we are.
    Old soldiers never die, they just continue to kick ass. Great job gentlemen
