Why does someone need to know what it feels like to get stabbed? It's the damage done by the knife that matters. Our local police force won't let their members carry Pepper Spray until, they themselves have been sprayed with it......................but yet they can carry a gun???!!

The reason the Military has to shoot bullets over soldiers heads, to prepare them. In combat when a soldier is in combat. It helps to be prepared to what it would be like so when the event happens you won't freeze and get shot.

If cops for example knew what it felt like to get stabbed, if a event like it happened. They most likely can get over the pain and shock of the event and take down the attacker to save there life from what could have been another knife wound.

The problem is that they needed to find someone who has been seriously stabbed or slashed to verify that the electric knife felt the same.
I'd think the problem with knife wounds are not the shock but the severed tendons.

Pain is not a given either... How many times don't you hear "I noticed I was stabbed (cut, whatever) because I saw blood, not because it hurt"...

OC, pepper spray hurts. But, you can work through it. Spraying police recruits shows them this quite plainly. Personally I think OC is of limited use. It's a pain in the arse to decontaminate some idiot who's throwing snot all over the place and making a big mess at the eye-wash station.

A Taser is way better. And before some of you rush to the uneducated assumption that Taser = death, the statistics on people collapsing and snuffing it from OC/excited deleruim and OC exposure are quite illuminating. There have been hundreds of deaths where OC was seen as a contributing factor.
It was quite the topic in the late 1990's. Due to the cross-contamination and decontamination issues, it's not a popular use of force choice these days.
