The course provided by the public schools no longer meets the demands of the masses of the people thirsting for the mental training and breadth of knowledge demanded by the conditions of modern life and civilization.

seems to be alot of argument for math.

Personally I think a fundamental understanding of Mathematics, English & associated Philosiphy, History, and basic understanding of how the world functions (sciences) are key. The rest should be up to the child to decide for themselves what they want to explore (via elective programs in school) at the highschool level, and up to the parents at the elementary school level.

Mandatory classes for high school students and/or senior elementary students in personal finance should be included as well.
