VANCOUVER - Greenhouse gases have so profoundly altered the world's oceans that scientists say "corrosive" acidified water is now surfacing off the west coast of North America.

Is that their official name now? Greenhouse gases?

"The corrosive water has shown up decades earlier than expected, say the researchers who warn of far-reaching impacts on the marine ecosystem."

So they knew about this a decade ago? Back when we were all going to die because of global cooling and then Y2K? They also said that the oceans were warming when they have bene proven to have not.
Now the oceans are turning into acid?
Is there never an end to the creative desperation of chicken little?

It's probably got more to do with all the bodies of all those recovered feet that the drug gangs are hiding.

If they are talking about carbonic acid.....

The solubility of the oceans decreases as water temperature rises, so the oceans must be cooling. Which goes against the predictions of global ocean warming.

The saturation solubility increases as oceans cool. Saturation solubility is not the same as solubility. If the CO2 concentration increases in the atmosphere it will increase in the water too, generally speaking.

I listened to a woman on the CBC explain this today. She said that the CO2 settles on the surface and then slowly sinks into the water. She said that the increase we are seeing today is due to CO2 from about 50 years ago. She also said there is nothing we can do and we're all screwed. Kiss your ass goodbye.

    1) What were her credentials?

    2) What is the basis for her assertion and is it supported by others?

    3) I thought the CBC wasn't to be trusted?

No, No. We can all surender our cars and save whatever precious oil is left for our green leaders, Gore, Suzuki and the benign manufacturer or everything, China. Commuting by bicycle and eating soylant green is a small price to pay for saving the world..

I'm not sure what her credentials are, she was involved in experiments studying this stuff. It was on CBC radio, I don't watch CBC television.
