WikiLeaks has published thousands of documents claiming to reveal top CIA hacking secrets, including the ability to infiltrate encrypted apps like Whatsapp and break into smart TVs and phones.
Giant WikiLeak of agency's secrets reveals it infiltrates iPhones, smart TVs and Whatsapp
My understanding was that with the new whisper encryption of whatsapp you can't access stuff without the security code changing, and it notifying you (provided you have it turned on). Tell you that either the phone has changed, or someone is snooping. The guys behind Signal put it together, and the consensus is it hasn't been broken yet. Unless they attack the phone itself, but that's not compromising the encryption of those apps. That's compromising the phone and that's a whole other ballgame.

Compromise needed on smartphone encryption
LAW ENFORCEMENT officials deserve to be heard in their recent warnings about the impact of next-generation encryption technology on smartphones, such as Apples new iPhone. This is an important moment in which technology, privacy and the rule of law are colliding.
Concerning the article though, the Mail seems a bit dubious about whether Wikileaks claims are true, but if they are this is kind of scary.
