This instrument is just fantastic.

Everything in this image is a Galaxy. If something appears to be there twice, it's not an illusin, it's called Gravitational Lensing. We see it twice, because it's behind another galaxy, and the gravity of the one in front bends light around itself.

Woo hoo! STIS is back online! That is the only instrument capable of examining a Near Earth Asteroid to Distinguish between true metalic and estantite chondrite. Any scientists here interested in joining on a bid for observation time? I want to examine as many C-type NEAs as possible.

The Hubble telescope has been the most cost effective and remarkaable scientific aparatus of its kind. It is a fantastic instrument and we will lean quite a bit from it.

Damned that America and their capitalist system. Michael Moore should do a show about how much money is wasted on things like this when it could go into health care or foreign aid.

Are you capable of posting anything without obsessing about politics in one form or another? You need to get a life.

Hubble is one of the greatest scientific tools ever developed. It really shows our place in the universe.

It's a modern wonder to the world, given freely to all at an enormous cost paid by only one nation. It's simply credit where credit is due and posting it in inconvienient threads like this just drives that point deeper home.

If we are talking astronomy, there is no better person to quote. :)

There is no better person than Sagan to quote if we're talking astronomy, or genetics or history or geo-politics or microbiology or evolution or environmentalism or world peace or.....

Greatest mind of the 20th century? I'd say so.

No, but I'd say top 3 for sure. Hawking, Witten, Sagan. In no particular order, and just in science. But definitely the most personable of the 3.
