I doubt "They're" saying anything.

If it's true, I suspect you're dealing with panic. Try putting on your brakes without taking your foot off the gas. It doesn't feel right, and it's going to confuse some people. There’s no software actually controlling the brakes. They still work.

Yeah, blaming drivers for the problem won't be good for Toyota's reputation. Either way, I have some confidence when people have their cars accelerating out of control, they'll be slamming on the brakes as hard as they can. The problem is, it seems to not work.

Apparently a 2006 memo from Toyota factory workers voiced concerns about the safety of Toyota cars...

...and the witch hunt continues…..

Tell me. Are the American manufacturers going to go back now and address the huge numbers of recalls still being denied or being fought in the courts now? The American government doesn’t seem to care about that either. Anyone else find that odd?

Like...? Class action lawsuits happen all the time, and that's for the courts to deal with. You want the government getting involved in every class action lawsuit?

Oh, I know, just against those domestic automakers you hate because you were burned 20-30 years ago, or something.

Hey there, Sparky, a lot of those "American" cars are actually CANADIAN cars built in Canada by Canadians.

Government involvement hardly ever happens. What makes this any different? I don’t suppose there’s any protectionist bias behind this do you? I imagine your opinion might differ if GM had the same problem and was under the same scrutiny all of a sudden.

I don’t recall say I was ever burned. That just sounds like you’re projecting.. I have stated that North American manufacturers have been allowed to produce crap for many more years than you’ve been around. It didn’t start to change until the imports came in a forced a change. They still have a long way to go though to catch up.

Hey there chuckles. I was referring to NORTH American. While the Canadian plants seem to always take the various awards for construction quality and efficient production, they still only build the crap that is designed in Detroit.

Then say 'North American'. Because when you just say 'American' it's accepted that you're NOT talking about Canada.

Other than the contribution from the Canadian taxpayer in bailout money, when did we start an automobile industry? “American” when talking cars also include the plants in Mexico. I’m pretty sure they don’t have their own industry either......

Hey! My Brother in Law owned one of the first Bricklin SV-1s. What a POS. It's no wonder Malcolm went broke. It had a 360cid engine (AMC I think) in a ridiculously heavy car. To burn rubber you had to light the tires on fire!

If he had that Bricklin today it would be worth a pretty penny....

Here's one that comes to some of our local car shows in Halifax...

$1:
Power came from a 360 cu in (5,899 cc) AMC 360 V8 for 1974. Later cars used a 351 cu in (5,752 cc) Ford Windsor V8.
