RUEZ RUEZ:

I guess they didn't learn their lesson in the 70s, the past year, and probably never will.

Well if they've got thousands of pre orders, it probably makes good business sense to fill those orders.

It will take far more than the sale 19,000 cars to get GM profitable again...

You might only need pennies! If GM folds before they get 'em all done, you can get a deal from the bankruptcy court.

Parts might be a problem though.

Yeah right... I know people who own Model A Fords, 55-56-57 T-Birds, 55-56-57 Bel Airs and 1950's Studebakers... Getting parts is not a problem...

Parts problems for a Chevy Camaro?

The aftermarket has been waiting for this for years. Nobody will be running out of LS engines anytime soon.

Did the u-joints on the car a couple weeks ago. The drive train parts book went back to '55. Walked out of the store with them.

I had an 85GMC Grand Sierra . In 1995  Power steering hose sprung a leak so I went to the dealer and he gave me a hose that didn't fit. Took it back and he accused me of modifying my power steering system 8O

According to him he gave me the correct one to match my 305 engine. Same thing at the next dealer couldn't match the existing hose. Has to buy the correct one from Crappy Tire. :P

Stupid parts people are a curse anywhere.

Paying dealer prices for parts on older vehicles is the height of folly.

Good news, but it isn't a sufficiently high-volume model to turn GM's fortunes around.

Nope, it sure won't.

It's a niche market and even the base model is pretty dear in price.

These might be the last of a breed.

Give it a couple of decades and they'll fetch a fortune at those Barrett-Jackson auctions.

Barrett-Jackson. Gah. Nice cars for crazy stupid money. I guess there are some pretty good deals that aren't shown on TV. I'd like to go see it sometime, along with the Reno air races and a couple other things.

GMs are one of the easiest cars to get parts for, especially Chevys...And parts are cheaper then Ford or Mopar and 2 or 3 times cheaper then Toyota, Honda, Nissan etc...

Check with Summitracing or Jegs for parts. They are quick and inexpensive...

Kid brother had a Toyota mini truck 4x4. Needed an alternator. He's a mechanic, so he removed his old alternator and went to the Toyota dealership with old alternator in hand... They gave him a new alternator and quoted an absurdly high price.... He looked at the new replacement alternator and it was stamped Delco/Remy. Told the Toyota clerk to keep the part & went across town to the local Chev-Olds dealer. The GM parts clerk found the GM part and the price was more then 1/2 of what Toyota wanted....

Parts are always cheap when you sell them in high volumes, just like those fleets of Impala taxi cabs.
I'll let you know if I ever have to replace anything on my Corolla :P
