poquas poquas: If it's true, I suspect you're dealing with panic. Try putting on your brakes without taking your foot off the gas. It doesn't feel right, and it's going to confuse some people. There’s no software actually controlling the brakes. They still work. Whenever I brake I always take my foot off the gas. Learnt that in Drivers Ed 101.

Learnt that in Drivers Ed 101. Use the left foot for the gas & brake. The right foot is for the clutch if you have a standard....

PLEASE dont be turning the ignition key off, when your steering wheel locks up you might find yourself in the ditch before it occurs to you that you need to turn the key back on.

People expect their cars to behave a cetain way all the time. If you try to brake with your car accelerating it will feel very different than when you take your foot off the gas first. If you’re expecting the car to slow and have to press the brake much harder than normal, some people will panic.

If it has a button start, then maybe people should read the instructions. As far as I know, it says "Push button for 3 seconds or more to stop engine from running". (or something) So no, pushing it for a second, or 120 times per minute will not stop your car...

In some situations 3 seconds may not be enough time...

What do you suggest, whenever you touch the button, the engine stops? Doesn't sound like a good idea to me... If you go 150 km/hr, push both your feet on the brakes and push that button 3 seconds, the car will stop. Braking takes longer than 3 seconds anyway.

poquas poquas: Canadianiam Canadianiam: It is all BS.
All cars, and this was a car, are required, by law, to have brakes that can over power the engine. All you need to do is stand on the brakes. Those systems that bypass that are not allowed.
Now if cars are on the road that are not meeting standards then the government needs a recall.
Having been in vehicles with stuck throttles I can tell you there is no need for all this drama, it is just PR, sour grapes on the part of a country that couldn't compete. That's a fact. It might take all the pressure you can muster, but even with the resulting damage, the brakes will stop the car. http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local-b ... 29472.htmlI'm sure this was tried here

stemmer stemmer: Just announced there is now a recall for rust on Toyota Tundras.... http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE62854420100310I am so glad that I bought a chevy. I would be pissed if I owned a gas guzzling Toyota. Especially when one of the assumptions of owning a gas guzzler is it wont rust out on you.
