In all fairness TG,

Not sure if his comment was intended to make fun of the homeless at all.

$1:
Maybe if the small towns actually had some services and showed some of that so called rural hospitality for these people we wouldnt see them down here

Smaller communities usually pull together in tragedies. It's in the city that most people don't know their neighbours, let alone make eye contact or say hello. As for lack of services in these smaller centres, that is a problem not of their making.

Brenda Brenda:
This small town does. Don't blame the big cities homelessness on the rural areas.
We have plenty of homeless people here, and plenty of crackheads, and plenty of shelters too, which accept pets too.

This is not fair. Not to the small towns and not to QBC either.

So does ours. We look after our own. It's in the larger centers, generally speaking, that people fall through the cracks unnoticed. IF (and it's rare) we have people on the streets, they're watched closely, and anything we can provide for them is gathered and brought to them.

And no, we don't laugh when we do it.

Of course it wasn't. We know better than that.

Its a heartless comment period. And so far from the comments from the small town people they are quite judgemental...maybe they should walk a mile.

I cant believe I am the only one that takes offence to a heartless comment like that...or is it just because a mod made it?

How do you explain, "Get a job and buy a coat"? I'm not sure what other way it can be taken.

Excuse me?

First of all, WHY are "the comments from the small town people" judgemental? Are we STUPID or something?

Second... Don;t you get PAID to mind the homelesses business? Or are you seriously telling me you devote all your free time to them, without pay? I don't believe that for a second.

I find that comment of yours to the "small town people" just as judgemental. You should know better, having lived in a small town.

I don't think you want us all to walk a mile. I don't even think it is necessary to kinda understand what these people chose. Yeah, probably heartless too, but as you say yourself, you have to try to get them inside, which indicates to me they chose to be on the streets. Or at least now have trouble being between 4 walls.

A comment like that is not made in jest. And I have seen the other comments. So far I have come to the conclusion, that i pray no one in anyones family suffers from a mental illness, addiction or other ailment...its one step to homelessness. Try walking the streets night after night getting people into shelters that have social phobias, anxiety, paranoia...and no not all have addiction. even though that is what most want to believe.

I spent the last three nights VOLUNTEERING and I get paid for my day job...try doing it for a day.

And I am back at it tomorrow night...sorry to burst your bubble I actually give a shit about people.

Look, it could be simply a joke taken out of context.

No matter, there was surely no intention to poke fun at anyone. Only an opinion here.
